Overview

Cộng Đồng Người Việt Nam Tại Mỹ (USA), or "Vietnamese Community in the USA", is a public Facebook Group created in March 2023. Its description invites Vietnamese people living, studying and working in America to share news, travel spots and practical help.

It is one of the busiest groups we have reviewed: 181,120 members, 651 new posts on the day we checked and about 10,000 in the last month. Growth has paused, with no new members in the last week, and the group's own name line advertises it for sale, so ownership may change. The group rules also forbid advertising posts.

Three things stand out:

  • The audience is in Vietnam. 4,868 of the profiles in the top 10 locations are in Vietnamese cities. Only one US location makes the list: Orange County, home of Little Saigon, with 126.
  • That makes it a planning audience. People in Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi joining a "Vietnamese in America" group are most likely preparing to study, work, travel or reunite with family in the US.
  • It is mature. Half of the profiles with a birthday are 30–60, and married and single members are split almost exactly 50/50.

Engagement health

Activity is very high: about 10,000 posts in a month is roughly 55 posts per thousand members, the highest rate we have measured. We could not review post quality without logging in, and busy groups often carry promotional posts, so we scored engagement 8 rather than higher.

Member growth has stopped for now. For lead generation the existing membership is what counts, and it is clearly defined by one interest: life in the United States.

Intent signals

Joining a community about Vietnamese life in America signals a concrete plan or a family tie. That maps to three needs:

  • Moving and studying: visas, study abroad, work programs and settlement services.
  • Staying connected: money transfers, international shipping and communication services for families across two countries.
  • Travel: flights, tours and travel insurance for visits to the US.

Each of those maps to a product category your team may already sell.

Best-fit use cases

Three kinds of teams get the most out of this audience.

Study abroad and immigration services

Licensed study abroad agencies, visa consulting and settlement services for Vietnamese moving to the US.

Remittance and shipping

Money transfer apps, international shipping and banking products for families across Vietnam and the US.

Travel to the United States

Airlines, tour operators and travel insurance targeting Vietnamese visiting family or touring the US.

How to approach these leads

This audience is making big, expensive life decisions. Trust matters more than reach.

  1. Do not post offers in the group: its rules forbid advertising. Reach members through paid social targeting and lookalikes instead.
  2. Be precise and honest. Visa and immigration claims must be accurate, and services should come from licensed providers.
  3. Write in Vietnamese and segment by city. Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi respond to different offices, events and examples.
  4. Follow Vietnam's personal data rules (Decree 13/2023/ND-CP and the Personal Data Protection Law 2025) before any email or phone outreach, with consent and a clear opt-out.

Contact coverage, stated honestly

Of the 9,305 profiles, 803 (8.6%) include an email address and 1,655 include a birthday. Plan this list primarily for ad targeting, with email as a secondary channel.

Our verdict

An 8.0 out of 10: a very active community with a misleading name and a valuable audience. The group says "Vietnamese in the USA", but the data says Vietnamese in Vietnam who are looking towards America. At $30 for 9,305 profiles, it is a strong fit for study abroad, immigration, remittance and US travel offers. The pause in growth and the sale notice on the group are worth watching.
